How We FunctionHZZO

Our work principles

Our patients deserve the best from us

We strive to treat you the way we want others to treat us. We want to support you in all available ways when you are sick, but also always take the opportunity to improve your health.

The best cooperation is achieved through an honest and open relationship

We will not lie to you, hide information or shortchange you in any other way. We ask the same of you - be honest and open with our staff. Do not forget that we are on your side.

Only by working together can we grow and progress

The path to recovery and improving your health is a path we take together. We will be happy to hear any suggestions you make during your visit or send to podrska@fiumed.hr.

Basic behavioral guidelines

Health precautions

We adhere to epidemiological measures, now and in the future. We want to behave responsibly towards each other and protect everyone in the office.

How you can help:

  • Come with a mask if you suspect you are contagious
  • If you have a fever, cough, or other symptoms of an infectious disease, and your visit is not urgent, consider postponing
  • Use our hand sanitizer dispensers
  • Let us know in advance if you have symptoms of an infectious disease

Mutual respect

We do not always have to agree, but we must respect each other and maintain polite behavior. We will not tolerate aggressive behavior and insults.

Respecting appointments

We respect your time and try to ensure you do not sit in the waiting room at our office.

  • Arrive on time for your scheduled appointment
  • Cancel or change your appointment as soon as you know you will not be able to use it
  • Remember that examination time is limited

Understanding limitations

Our office has a large number of registered patients with limited resources. As a contractual partner of HZZO, we must adhere to the rules of your insurer. If a procedure, medication, or test is medically justified but limited by HZZO rules, we will explain the situation to you and try to find other solutions.

Emergency cases

Patients with life-threatening emergencies always have priority and will be admitted without delay.

Communication rules

  • Review information and FAQs on this portal before contacting us - many answers are already here
  • Receive our newsletter notifications - we inform you about important news
  • Use digital tools - On this portal you can access all our digital tools. Always use available tools instead of sending emails for things that can be resolved through the system (e.g. appointment booking, ordering medications).
  • Be brief and clear when contacting us by email or phone

How to best use your doctor's appointment

Before arrival:

  • Arrive on time
  • Be prepared - write down questions and arrange them by priority
  • Bring medications, findings and other important documentation that may not be available to the doctor
  • Research your family medical history

During the appointment:

  • Relax and be honest - we have heard everything and nothing is strange to us
  • Listen to advice, even if you don't like it at first
  • Ask if you didn't understand something
  • Arrange further steps if you didn't cover all topics
